Without a doubt mathematics is elegant.
During the last few weeks, we have been getting different figures all the time with respect to the number of weeks Ingrid has been pregnant. Which is rather frustrating, confusing and above all irritating. I mean, after all it is not rocket science is it?
On our initial calculations, we had a rough idea as to how many weeks had gone by from conception. And then every visit to the doctor gave us different numbers. A tad bit confusing, I must say. On one of our visits to the doctors, she even took us a week back. It was as if week 7, was never ending. They need to have a subject on this in medical school. Medical Mathematics! Yes, they can do with some of that. Most doctors I know are poor at mathematics. I can even come up with a curriculum for them.
To all of you who like to keep things in order, I have this wonderful calender cum worksheet. It is absolutely amazing. It allows one to keep track of everything. Just what one needs, for something like this. Thank goodness for this calender, that has become like a gospel to me. No! I will call it The Acts. The Acts of ET.
And then it all came to make perfect sense: The scan apparently reveals data that can be used to calculate nearly precisely. And that number, did match exactly to the date that we had calculated. On the 8th of February 2012, my calculations was that we were finished with the 8th week, and 4 days plus. This was exactly, what the scan showed on the same day. This is like predicting the precise time for the rising of Io - a moon of Jupiter. On the mark!
Hope ET will share the same feelings that I hold for the elegance of Mathematics.
