Testing! Testing! Testing!

We are supposed to do the Glucose Challenge Screening Test, A Routine Urine Test and Complete Blood Count today. And we did.

Hence, we are in the hospital today.  At 8.30am or so.  The procedure is,  Inrgid is given 50gm of glucose. That must taste like a very sweet soda. Exactly 1 hour later, they take a blood sample.  The idea is to see how effectively one’s body processes sugar.  It is primarily to check for gestational diabetes.  Since it is a screening test, it will not give a diagnosis.  Hence, a positive result does not mean that one has gestational diabetes.  Apparently, only a third of those who show positive actually have the condition.  It can be confirmed only with a Glucose Tolerance Test.  For now, we have done the first procedure.

The Routine Urine test, is pretty straight forward.  Colour, density, pus cells etc. And the CBC or Full Blood count will tell the doctor if all the proportions of cells, Red, White and all the colours of the rainbow are in the right quantity!!!

Since, we have done all that, later today I go and collect the reports!  Hope all will be well.
